It is no secret that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West on February 2021. KimYe enjoyed a 6-year marriage and welcomed children North (8), Saint (6), Chicago (4) and Pslam (3).
KIM KARDASHIAN’S MARRIAGE TO KANYE
Whilst the union of KimYe is adored by fans, we anticipate their separation would cause uproar. But what we didn’t expect is how much Kim may have needed to find herself without Kanye.
When Kim comes to mind you instantly think of fashion and beauty. Some may consider her as the Modern-Day Marilyn Monroe. Kim met Kanye in 2011. Kanye made various appearances in their reality TV show, Keeping up With The Kardashians. Kanye showcased himself to be the creative director behind many of Kim’s infamous outfits, a man of good wit and a visionary. It seemed to be love at first sight with the couple tying the knot in 2013.
Whilst their marriage hit a turbulent end and divorce is in the process, we did not expect the aftermath of their separation to be this shocking. All is revealed in the Kardashian’s reality TV show.
THE KARDASHIANS
Famously known for “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”, the family branched out from E! network to commence their journey of a documentary styled reality TV show with Hulu, titled “The Kardashians”. Fans of the famous family are able to enjoy unfiltered footage. Revealing all, in episode 5 of the show, we see Kim revealing to sister Kourtney, her struggle with “finding herself” in the fashion world. She claims Kanye influences the decision making of her red carpet looks, premieres and day to day looks, “I got to a point where I would ask him advice for everything – down to what I wore” and “how do I wear something that isn’t pre-vetted first”.
Ironic? Kim explains to Kourtney “Kanye told me my career is over”, following her Wall Street Journal magazine appearance where she was awarded the Innovator award for Skims. Kim explains she needs to figure out who Kim K is and “how to get there without Kanye.”
Later in the episode, Kim is in her closet piecing together outfits for 2 upcoming events. Kim is joined by Kourtney’s ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick and explains she is nervous about the event (wedding) because it is the first time, she won’t be using a stylist and the whole team to get ready. Scott reassures Kim, “look at how well you’ve done with Skims. You know how to dress” He goes on to say “I’m excited, you’re going to go back to more like, you”. Kim says “I don’t know what that is”.
Kim put together a beautiful skin-tight blue ensemble matched with large diamond earrings whilst posing in the bathroom. Showing viewers, she’s more than the muse.
Over the years we realise that Kanye had some influence in Kim’s looks, going beyond the days she joined Kanye as his plus one to the biggest fashion charity event, The Met Gala back in 2013. Kim’s worries may come as a surprise to the world considering she has been a fashion icon since the mid-2000s.

To many people, this problem may seem trivial but it is easy to lose sight of who you are during a marriage and even a divorce. If we dig deeper, Kim’s issue may be more than what to wear, but a discovery of who she is without the man she shared almost 7 years of marriage with. Whether it is an identity crisis or not, Kim is learning to evolve and explore who she is whilst the world watches – which is extremely brave. Divorce Consultant, Jennifer Van Luven explains during times of divorce “your understanding of who you are has dramatically altered”. We know this is a difficult time for Kim and whilst it is unclear whether they will air her divorce journey on the show, we applaud her courage in vocalising her struggles.
